Shelburne Diary (Part 1): Intro

On Saturday, 16 June 2007 I took a day-trip to Shelburne, Ontario (http://www.townofshelburne.on.ca) for their first Doors Open weekend (http://www.doorsopenontario.on.ca). Doors Open is a wonderful event, in which a town or city will open the doors of its public and private buildings to the public one weekend a year. Doors Open had had its origins in Europe and took root in North America in Toronto in 2000. I've never missed a Doors Open Toronto and am happy that other communities in Ontario are now joining in. Shelburne is about a 90 minute drive northwest of Toronto and has a population of about 4,000. A very pretty, little town typical of southwestern Ontario. There were some interesting venues which I'll cover in this multi-part series of *very brief* videos. I'll first look at Shelburne's main street, then the mystery of North America's disappearing bees, musical whorehouses, churches converted to private homes and the power of the wind itself. Enjoy.

 | Shelburne Diary (Part 3): Whorehouse Part 3 of 5 from my day trip to Shelburne, Ontario during their Doors Open events. While visiting the Shelburne Town Hall I came across a rehearsal for the musical "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." I was impressed with the quality of the performance.
