A great oak in a French forest

Title:
A great oak in a French forest

Description:
We travel miles into the interior of a French forest to find a single remaining giant oak. This tree is marked on the road maps of France and is quite easy to find. Others marked like this are very difficult or have since been lost. We looked for two other trees on the road map in other forests on this trip and couldn't find them. But if you find one then it is a priveledge to see these last few. Soon they will be all gone and only very young trees will remain. When that day comes will French foresters ever think that trees can grow big?

Oak Alley Plantation
Recorded June 3, 2004. Located on the Mississippi River between the historic Louisiana cities of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Oak Alley Plantation has been called the "Grande Dame of the Great River Road". Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The quarter-mile canopy of giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old, forms an impressive avenue leading to the classic Greek-revival style antebellum home. From: timvp.com
