Embraced in the chaos and darkness, the mist from the rain falls on my body. No numbers written down or chants recited, all is remembered and forgotten for my Lady this Night. The time is all time and every time, intoxicated by the warm drink from the thighs of wondrous lusts. Her muses carry me to darkness, to the familiar place we once danced in sacredness and lust.  | Sacred Sensuality 1/4 Group of contemporary jewellers, textile designer and ceramist Our group comprises 9 jewellers, a ceramicist and a textile artist, each of whom has crafted a piece reflecting the central theme. Each artist has applied the techniques and medium of her own particular art, while drawing on the experiences of her past. The aim of this project is to promote an idea of art jewellery which transcends the boundaries of convention, allowing us the freedom to explore a variety of conceptual possibilities. We took this freedom for ourselves so that we can continue to fulfill our creative aspirations as artists within a professional framework. Our exploration of the sacredness of sensuality has resulted in a unique set of pieces celebrating the themes of desire, fertility, taboos, rituals, erotic cruelty and tenderness, as well the infinite beauty and warmth of the human body. The initial version of the exposition, which was presented in Quebec City in 2006, had a multidisciplinary in approach. The pieces were set into motion thanks to a choreography and videography which were especially designed for the event, and whose aim was to contextualize them within their specific thematic frameworks. It was an exceptional opportunity to gain a deeper awareness of the relationship between the body and objects which adorn it. |
