Gervase Elwes - The Roadside Fire (1920)
The British tenor, Gervase Cary Elwes (1866.11.15 1921.1.12) sings Vaughan Williams' "The Roadside Fire" for Columbia in 1920. This is actually a flip side of the disc set of Vaughan Williams' "On Wenlock Edge". Elwes' technique is somewhat 'archaic' , but his voice is surely very sweet and romantic, despite the poor sound quality of Acoustic Columbia recording. Played on my Numark turntable.
