![]() | Is Rachael Ray A Terrorist? Dunkin' Donut Ad Dumped ! A Dunkin' Donuts commercial featuring TV cook and domestic diva Rachael Ray, wearing a silk scarf with the paisley design (see paisley some people see Palestinians) after Fox news columnist Michelle Malkin described the garment, " It has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos." I bet i would go unnoticed if i wore the same outfit in downtown manhattan! Pro-Jewish blogger Pam Geller posted it under the headline "Rachel Ray: Dunkin Donuts Jihad Tool." A keffiyeh kerfuffle. Conservative blog Little Green Footballs posted an item that likened Ms. Ray's scarf to the type typically worn by Muslim extremists. The blog said that the ads "casually promote the symbol of Palestinian terrorism and the intifada, the keffiyeh, via Rachael Ray." Ray, host of the Food Network television program 30 Minute Meals, has been a representative for Dunkin' Donuts since March 2007. Could this scarf be some sought of terror link? Is the scarf she wore in the ad a symbolic support for terrorism and a subliminal threat? Is she a fashion terrorist? If so Terrorist Chic Is Over! Why is Rachael Ray standing in front of the Oregon Capitol in Salem? Does Obama, mean Osama? Looks like Michelle Malkin won this round Rachael! The pattern on the scarf wasn't the web-like pattern like Arafat but a series of paisleys. The offical DD response: "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial." Faux news are at it again. Does Michelle Malkin know that the kaffiyeh is a staple of Arab wardrobes all over the Middle East? Not just terrorist. Simply saying that anyone who wears a kaffiyeh is demonstrating solidarity with Islamic terrorists is bizzare. Cameron Diaz made a major fashion faux pas in Peru last year. Offending Peruvians by touring there with a bag displaying one of Mao Zedong's favorite political slogans. The bag had a red star and the words "Serve the People" printed in Chinese on the flap. A trendy fashion accessories? The Maoist Shining Path insurgency brought Peru to edge of chaos in the 80s and early 90s with a campaign of massacres, assassinations and bombings. Nearly 70,000 people were killed during the insurgency. Michelle Malkin also wrote, "Anti-American fashion designers abroad and at home have mainstreamed and adapted the scarves as generic pro-Palestinian jihad or anti-war statements. Yet many folks out there remain completely oblivious to the apparels violent symbolism and anti-Israel overtones." Malkin, also posted on her blog that "it's refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists." Political correctness is all about censorship. To force good old Dunkin' Donuts to bow to an unfounded charge of terrorist sympathizer is a sad kind of McCarthyism. Besides this style of scarf is wildly popular right now amongst teenagers and young adults, boys and girls alike. And I don't think it's because we have a North American budding nation of youth Islamic fundamentalist converts either. Anti-racism organization ANSWER have called for a "worldwide boycott of Dunkin' Donuts." What's really ironic is that photos are now circulating the internet of John McCain's daughter wwearing a kiffeyah. Does this mean that Senator McCain should not run for President? A perfect storm of ignorance, arrogance, and mindlessly revisionist radical chic! |
