Our Services: Shockwave Therapy. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) devices generate pulses of high-pressure sound that travel through the skin. For reasons that are not fully understood, soft tissue and bone that are subjected to these pulses of high-pressure energy heal back stronger. Heel and Arch Pain Treatment. is a pervasive problem that many people frequently encounter. Heel and arch pain is commonly caused by a condition called plantar fasciitis which is essentially an inflammation of the tissue that runs from your heel to your toes. Some of the other causes of heel and arch pain can be arthritis, infection, fractures and sprains (just to name a few). Treatment options include first reducing the inflammation in the foot through various techniques including but not limited to exercises, physical therapy, medication, arch supports, and orthotics. Equally as important as fixing the problem, we will also work to prevent the problem from recurring through mechanical and behavioral adjustments. Non-Surgical Treatment of Neuroma. Neuroma (in the foot called Morton's neuroma) is a thickening of nerve tissue in various parts of the body. Morton's neuroma typically occurs at the base of the third and fourth toes, but may also occur in other locations in the foot as well. A neuroma is a swelling in the nerve usually as the result of over compression and irritation. If left untreated, this can lead to nerve damage. Diabetic Foot Treatment. Proper foot care is crucial in avoiding serious medical complications that can result from the diabetic condition. Without proper diabetic foot care, dangerous complications such as foot ulcers, infection, and gangrene can occur. However, using careful management plans, many patients with diabetes can have an excellent quality of life. An important component in that plan is a quality pair of diabetic shoes. Laser Treatment in Our Office. The word laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The light beam produced by most lasers is pencil-thin and maintains its size and direction over very large distances. The varied effects of lasers occur because of differences in light intensity and wave length. In medicine, lasers are used as precise scalpels. They are useful in controlling bleeding, because their beam cauterizes (burns) as it cuts. Lasers may be directed through fiberoptic channels. Laser techniques allow: * fine control and accurate aim using computer assisted delivery, and * access into places that traditional surgical instruments cannot easily access. Lasers are used to treat a variety of medical conditions such as: * skin conditions such as mole, wart * the removal of cancerous and benign lesions. In some cases, lasers do not produce better results than using a scalpel. Some procedures are less costly, and just as safely performed using traditional surgical techniques. But, lasers are superior for other procedures. When wisely used, lasers can achieve clean and quick-healing surgical results. Visit our website: http://www.mitchellwachteldpm.com
