Studio estimates show it hauled in another 43-point-8 million dollars this weekend. That raises its total gross to just under 395-million dollars in just 17 days. Warner Brothers says it expects it's film to sail past the 400-million dollar mark by Monday or Tuesday. That would break the record set by 'Shrek 2,' which took 43 days to earn 400-million dollars.The third 'Mummy' flick debuts second with 42-point-5 million dollars. 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" sends star Brendan Fraser and his wife, played by Maria Bello to China. There they battle a resurrected ancient ruler played by Jet Li and his undead minions.Step Brothers, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, was back at third. It took in 16-point-three million dollars.Movie goers continue to sing the praises of 'Mamma Mia.' It's at number four - taking in another 13-point-one million dollars.And another Brendan Fraser film, 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' also returns at number 5. This weekend it earned another 6-point-nine million dollars. |

Reilly - is about two 40-year old who never left home - and become step brothers when their parents marry.The musical romance 'Mamma Mia' continues to draw in crowds. It's third, taking in 17-point-nine million.The weekend's other big release, The X-Files: I want to believe' is fourth, earning an estimated 10-point-two million dollars. The film, released 6 years after the TV sci-fi show went off the air, re-teams David Duchovny's Mulder and Gillian Anderson's Scully to solve a missing-persons case.Movie goers also continued to journey to 'Journey to the center of the Earth,' which took in another nine-point-four million. |
