 | Trains tracks & trails - Rhätische Bahn A traveller can tell many tales. In this case, tales inspired by Disentis, Sankt Moritz, Landwasser and the Glacier Express. Via Andermatt to Graubünden along hairpin turns. The birch and beech trees turn to pine. For years, there was no railway here - the inclines too steep, the viaducts needed too high. But a determined Dutchman said; "If the authorities won't build one, we'll build one ourselves." Thus was the Rhätische Bahn, a private railway, born. Via cog, steam and narrow gauge, "Trains, Tracks and Trails" winds and climbs its way along 3 separate rail trips through Switzerland: The Golden Pass, The Rhätische Bahn and The Jungfrau Bahnen. For sheer take-your-breath-away beauty, nothing can surpass Switzerland.  | SBB Cargo in Domat/Ems, part 1 In Domat/Ems zit Stallinger Swiss Timber, een houtzagerij annex houtverwerkingsfabriek. Veel aan- en afvoer vindt plaats via het spoor. SBB Cargo en de Rhätische Bahn hebben een contract daarvoor met Stallinger en de SBB heeft daar een Am 843 rangeerloc gestationeerd. Deze loc haalt wagons uit en plaatst weer nieuwe en opvallend daarbij is dat dit zowel normaalspoor als smalspoorwagens zijn. Daarom zijn alle sporen op het terrein, maar ook vrijwel alle sporen op het tegenoverliggende rangeerterrein van drie rails voorzien. Zodoende kan dan normaalspoor- en smalspoormaterieel tegelijkertijd op hetzelfde spoor rijden |
