Though both sides of the Beartooth Highway or Byway are scenic, I believe the drive from Cooke City upward and over brings you more delight. It is when you come back down the switchbacks that you don't think, it can get better, but it does, especially looking over into this valley where Rock Creek flows downward. This is south of Red Lodge, Montana. This pass is 10, 947 feet as you travel over and crosses between Montana and Wyoming.
