 | Rescuers Plead For More Beach Lifeguards A near drowning in Brevard County happened on the same day rescuers issued a plea for more beach lifeguards. Cocoa Beach is one beach that would get a year-round lifeguard under an expensive proposal that was debated on Thursday. The man who was rescued drifted hundreds of yards down the beach before bystanders pulled him out, but there were no lifeguards nearby. A helicopter flew to the scene to aid the injured man. |
