Making Fashion (1938) - extract
Norman Hartnell's 1938 Spring Collection is modelled here by a group of society ladies (one of whom looks alarmingly like Nadia from 2004's Big Brother) who pose awkwardly in a series of extraordinary gowns. Devonport High School Albert Road Air-Raid-Shelter
I had been looking for this shelter`s long lost hidden entrance for years - then in 2001 a developer knocks down the old DHS school and a call from Andrew - and years of searching has ended. Note the electric controls for the shelter lighting, the row of coat hangers, but most interesting is the red hand painted "V for Victory" sign. Note under the red "V" the morse code "...-" which is the start of Beethovens 5th Sympony - used as a code for victory by the Allies

1941 Fashion Horizons - Part 1 of 2
www.webalice.it Fashion Horizons (1941) Part 1 of 2 Several Hollywood starlets take a bright and breezy vacation in the southwest, while a bright and breezy narrator breezily describes their trip to us, describing every outfit each woman wears in great detail and occasionally throwing in a plug for TWA. Somebody should have shot the writer, though, because there's a fine line between breezy and stupid, and the film's narration repeatedly crosses that line, especially when dealing with native ...
