My Tommy Gun "Nagaina II" in Violin Case
My "Chicago Typewriter", build in 1942. The Violin-Case i bought at eBay for a few Euros and rebuild it to hold my beautiful "Stradivari" ;-) This particular gun in the video was one of the Tommy Guns that send at the "Lend-Lease-Act" during WW-II to the Russians. It was never used and stored for more than 60 years. In 2006 the guns was rediscovered, and approx 100 of it are sold in germany for approx 1600 Euro. The only change is, that the Full-Auto-function is disabled according to the german gun laws, but it can still fire .45 ACP Rounds in Semi-Auto fire. The two stick-magazines are WW-II productions from Seymour and Auto-Ordnance, the 50-round L-Drum is a Seymour-Drum, made in WW-II too. The Thompson Submachine Gun (aka Tommy-Gun) is one of the most famous (and surely the most beautiful) guns of the world, especially while it was widely used by Al Capone, John Dillinger & Co. in the 1920s and 1930s but the idea, that the gangsters of the 1920s and 1930s uses violin-cases for carrying the Tommy Gun is only an urban legend. But nevertheless, it is a cool looking urban legend ;-) P.S. I named my baby "Nagaina II"... ever gun needs a name that describe it's personality... ;-) And now for some Hollywood-movie-"truths" about the TSMG: 1. You can shot 1000 & more rounds out of a 50-round L-Drum without reloading 2. You can shot it without cocking or release the safety-lever 3. Even in the brightest sunlight, you always have a 3-4 foot long bright glowing fireblast at the muzzle. 4. You can shoot straigt trough a car engine-block and 3-foot brick-walls 5. If you shot in a group of people, you will only hit the bad guys. 6. Regardless of the range, you never have to use the rear-sight.
