Another great day trip out of Gold Beach and perfect to combine with a trip to the Treesort. The Illinois river valley has some magical finds and the Oregon Caves national monument is at the top of the list. The historic Chateau is a great place to stay as you prepare to go underground in a cave. Hiking trails circle the lodge and the views from the top leave you breathless.

Day 30 Cave Junction, Oregon
We have a long but brisk day, riding and walking to Cave Junction, where Pat and Clark put Hampton and the rest of us for the night. We will soon shove off for the Redwoods. We hitched a ride with Sandie of Grants, we really thank her for all her help and another bale of great alfalfa. And thanks to Mr. Lewis at the Boat shop for letting Hampton eat his grass and letting us park there, he is a really sweet guy. The road to Cave Junction lets you know you are headed to California.
