Snow Storm Back in the 1960s - Lexington NC
This is an old 8mm film of a snow storm sometime back in the 60s. It looked like a foot or two fell from this storm! The first part is in downtown Lexington and some of the local roads around the outskirts of town. The second part is the farm that I live on currently, my uncle grew up here and you can see him in this video a couple times. He was right around my age at the time.

The Lexington area is the home to about 21 bbq restaurants (or stands as they're often called in that area), and with a population of about 21000 people, that's 1 bbq stand for every 1000 people - "That's a pretty good ratio" said Mayor Richard Thomas. When people talk about Western North Carolina style barbecue, they are talking about Lexington style Barbecue — Pork shoulders cooked for long hours over wood (usually hickory).

Chip Stamey, grandson of the legendary C. Warner Stamey, is attributed with the saying, "barbecue is a noun, not a verb." Like many other flawless statements, it's one that seems to have taken a life of its own, much like the reputation of Greensboro's Stamey's.
