Disney's Mars & Beyond 2 of 6 - Mars in Pop Culture

Description:
Mars as seen in the news and entertainment of the times. Cool little 'generic' Mars episode at the end. Enjoy. Rare Walt Disney Space series from 1957, speculating about Mars. Remember, almost 50 years ago, only Sputnik had gone up 2 months earlier! (more)

Rare Walt Disney Space series from 1957, speculating about Mars. Remember, almost 50 years ago, only Sputnik had gone up 2 months earlier! Walt does the intro to the 6 part program, leading into talk about Man's history of looking up into the sky. Really includes a history of knowledge and science. Gospel According to Pop Culture
This is a project I did for my Religion and Popular Culture class. It's a mini-documentary about how pop culture can work to perpetuate misconceptions about certain aspects in a religion. I realize that the video and audio are off during the interview portions. The interviews were converted from analogue to digital, which is where I believe the problem occurred. I did what I could to fix most of it. The rest of the documentary does not suffer this problem. Also, a typo in the credits: Gainex should be Gainax. If anyone catches any other errors in the credits, please let me know. Edit: Another error in the credits. The opening song is "Mary, Mary" by Chumbawamba, not "Whatever Happened to Mary".
Disney's Man and the Moon 3 of 6 - The Science of the Moon
What is known and speculated about the Moon by scientists. (circa 1956!) Amazingly accurate, though the theory of its origin has been superceded by an impact theory.
