 | Omar Al-Bashir order reopening Popular Defence forces President Gives Orders to re-open Popular Defense Training Camps Sunday 18 November 2007 (smc) President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir gave instructions to re-open Popular Defense training camps. He said that the Popular Defense Forces (PDF) is the legitimate baby of the National Salvation Revolution. The President gave this statement yesterday in Wad Madani, capital of Gezira State, addressing the Popular Defense Forces' celebrations commemorating the 18th anniversary of the founding of the force. However the President maintained that the government seeks peace. He said the government signed the CPA from a position of strength, because the Salvation Revolution had determined to accept peace as a strategic goal since taking over power in 1989. He reminded that the government still pledges to respect all signed agreements including peace. He called upon SPLA to honor and accept the resorting to negotiations to resolve outstanding issues, similar to what happened during the Nivasha talks that brought peace. |
