 | No Show - Environmental Issues In South Africa During 1970's This film was an attempt to reflect on environmental issues in the '70's in South Africa. The Blood Sweat & Tears track on the album 'New City' provided the inspiration in the making of this film. Filmed on location in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with excerpts from Plumstead, Wynberg, Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens, Cape Town City Centre, Johannesburg City Centre, Eindhoven, the Ijsselmeer and Amsterdam. 'No Show' was the first completed Cine 70 project. It was filmed in the Super 8 format on silent Kodak ASA40 film stock. The silent film was then striped with an 1mm wide magnetic tape, edited and the sound track added. The film has been restored to its original length. It was remastered and recaptured to the digital format. The original sound track was re-dubbed in digital stereo. Filmed by Michael van der Leer. Help, tea and patience provided by Cynthia van der Leer who kindly gave permission to allow her kitchen to be used as an editing room. |
