The Royal Oak Pub,Gretton and Cotswold Steam Railway GW/R

Description:
A weekend visit to the Cotswolds by Fonte Dei Marmi (The Marble Fountain) showroom staff took in Sunday Lunch at The Royal Oak pub in Gretton near Winchcombe Gloucestershire. Apart from Real Ale Pubs, Blues music The Rolling Stones, fast cars and planes, I love Trains and especially Steam Trains. This Pub is great! The Food is five star, the Landlord is a great fella with plenty of time to chat... when he isnt rushed off his feet. Lunch in the Garden watching City Of Truro passing by with a view across to Bredon Hill is a very relaxing experience. Then a visit to Winchcombe Station where Taffy Tank 5619 arrived on a train to Toddington and waited for 7903 GWR Foremark Hall to pass with a train for Cheltenham Racecourse.Watch the single line Token being passed frpom signalman to footplate, permitting access to the single line beyond Winchcombe. This part of England is a treat. Park at Toddington, then travel the line and back. Tewkesbury is not far away, a lovely Town on The River Avon. Two more wonderful pubs are The Fleet Inn and The Load. Both of them are on the riverside with gardens and ducks and swans! The only thing the Royal Oak needs is a small Halt so I can park at Toddington and travel to the pub by train. That way a good drink and dinner without tossing a coin to see who's not drinking in order to drive us home!

Bodmin and Wenford Railway 1/2 Back To Padstow Please
37142 and 5552 arrive and depart from Bodmin General. On a sleepy summers day, the trains arrival brings new life and bustling activity to the town. Wadebridge and Padstow are really missing out on the the extra, lucrative tourist £s that could be delivered to their towns if only they had the railway. The rebuilt signalbox and lever frame, old signals and pretty station take one back to the early 60s. 5552's crew enjoy a chat and a cup of tea, while Clint Eastwood, the Yorkie, barks at just ...

The excitement of running across the bridge to film the train going away can only be understood by us grown ups! 92203: David Shepherd and Black Prince 50th Birthday celebrations [Slideshow]
David Shepherd, world famous artist and lover of wildlife, and Steam Locos was at Toddington on 20th August to celebrate the 50th birthday of his steam locomotive 92203 Black Prince, a very fine example of 1959 vintage. David also launched a limited edition N gauge model of 92203. During the morning, a length of track was laid along the runninng plate of 92203 and the new model loco run up and down on the real Black Prince. Sadly, a fly-past by the Battle Of Britain Lancaster, Spitfire and ...

60163: Tornado 19 sept 2009 Sell Out Tour to York
Tornado 60163 hauls the Cathedrals Express to York. Leaving Kings Cross, Mark Allatt, Chairman of the A1 Trust is busy organising and watching over procedure.Sorry about the wires and overhead catenary, it seemed to get in the way at every shot. We are lucky steam locomotives can get around the paperwork to still be on it! Wherever you are in the world I hope you enjoy seeing it through my eyes, it is an amazing experience to hear and see Tornado leave Kings Cross.
