While visiting a store next to some UP tracks off of Noland Road, I heard the familiar 5 chimes of Amtrak coming around the bend and got my video camera out in time to catch it racing by on it's way to its next stop at the historic "Truman" depot in Independence.

I took a trip when from Springfield Illinois to Kansas City Missouri on the Anne Rutlidge in early spring 1998. This is the beginning of the return leg of my journey, from Kansas City to Springfield Illinois. I bought some batteries for my camera, so that won't be a problem. Here I go through Independence Missouri. On this late march day, It snowed. This is March 20, 1998.

The Amtrak Texas Eagle(train #22), led by GE P42DC #38, is blasting its way north through Cliff Cave County Park, along the UP desoto Sub. The train is running about 2 1/2 hours late in this video.

Independence MO , Jones Road
Independence Mo, Salisbury and Jones Road . Parts of Independence Mo are still amazingly beautiful. Some of this area still looks the same as it did 20 years ago. I only wish the leaves were more brilliant its awesome when the leaves change on that stretch of road. I did notice the new housing devlopements .I hate to see the landscape changing . KC changed so quick , lets hope Independence doesnt.

Later after our trip to Pleasant Hill, we visited Independence. Noland Road Parallels up's tracks, so we got a train on the way to our destination.
