The Norfolk & Western Class A 1218 steam locomotive arrives in Lynchburg, Virginia, then departs for Roanoke in spectacular fashion. This video includes a runby on the Lynchburg approach, a scene of the train entering the Montview yard, then additional runbys departing Lynchburg, en route to and approaching Roanoke.

Here are a couple clips of the Norfolk & Western Class A #1218 back in better years. I plan to add more as time goes on. I really miss the Norfolk Southern steam program. Even with the long hours on short weekends to capture the trips they ran on occasion was well worth the body beatings. This was from the summer of 89 or 90. Trips were out of Alexandria VA. One was on the Southern main(first clip return) and the second is a spectacular display of steam as she readies early in the morning ...
