Khardung La - Motorbike ride up the worlds highest road 1

Title:
Khardung La - Motorbike ride up the worlds highest road 1

Description:
Early one morning we left Leh and set out for the climax of our adventure, the Khardung La. I felt nervous but excited. It was a clear sunny day, bright blue skies and as we climbed and climbed we could see Leh looking green and tiny down beneath us, the snowy peaks of the Great Himalayan Range in the distance across the valley and in front of us, beautiful black tarmac. We couldn't have asked for better riding conditions. As long as I live I'll remember that magnificent morning and my motorbike ride up the world's highest motorable road.

Ladakh Slideshow
Here is a slideshow with photographs from Ladakh where I spent a week last October. The 2nd half shows the road to the Nubra valley over the Khardung La pass, claimed to be the highest motorable road in the world. Please note that no color or contrast corrections etc have been made on these images, so they might lack a bit of punch. More images can be found on my website: www.worldsphotos.com

They are part of a forthcoming feature length documentary that promises to put hair back on men's chests and set the ladies pulses racing, in a seat of your pants film entitled "Freewheeling the Himalayas" due to be released next year, by first time feature director Chris Law. Tragically Tony died from ...

A video of folks at bcm motoring.com riding down from Khardung-La pass (18380feet), the video was shot by Salil. The beauty of it is, he held the cam in one hand while negotiating all the gravel filled turns. Video is compiled and edited by Sunil Gupta, three cheers for such a wonderful job.
