Red Car goes to Costco, LAX, and back to spawning ground
Description:
Driving the Red Car. Trying to hold it back, but really, it's so much fun to drive that you don't CARE what it costs. Example of charging at the Costco Signal Hill; every EV person should be a Costco member. Stopping at LAX, which has been faithfully supporting EVs all this time, while GM and Chevron were killing them. Costco believes in efficient and clean transportation; LAX believes that long-distance travel should be done by driving your EV to the station, and taking a plane (or train, of course). So LAX is in accordance with advanced transportation theory. Then back to the spawning ground, where the batteries came from that fixed the Red Car. Of course, it could not have been restored without the excellent work of ACPropulsion, who originally created it.

On the RAV4-EV, you have to bypass the magnecharger to get conductive charging. In this magnecharger input port, there was a factory-flaw in one capacitor; it fails pretty regularly. We went years without using the magnechager at all, just using a plug. Today, we replaced the capacitor and restored the magnecharger circuitry to working condition on this RAV4-EV.... |
