River City Western - August 2009

Title:
River City Western - August 2009

Description:
This is a progress report on the River City Modelers club layout. Hey Nick, I put ditch lights in my Maersk GP60M! Sorry about the shakey camera work. Due to the height of the railroad, I was jumping around on risers while filming by hand.

Take a Spin Around the Room
This video shows the progression of construction on the new River City Western layout. The River City Modelers club has completed about 90% of the bench-work in very short order. We still have a long way to go but I think you will agree we have a good start on things. The opening clip shows the new room as we viewed it for the very first time.

BNSF 8263 - BNSF 8251 - CSXT 784 (Part 1)
This video is once again a demo for an e-bay sale featuring here two BNSF sd75m's and one CSX sd70mac. All are Athearn Genesis. These three are pulling a substancially long autorack train up a 2% grade (grade is after train passes) with relative ease. All autoracks and engines are custom weathered by me. See part 2 for more visual on the layout

GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY--Historical Video---part 4 of 4
The last memories of the Great Northern Railway. Part 4 consists mostly of a ride aboard #32, the Empire Builder, from Seattle to Scenic as seen from a dome car, followed by a few scenes taken on the return trip from Spokane aboard #27, the Western Star. This was taken in April 1971 after the BN merger, but most equipment seen is ex-GN. A shaky but fun look at how things used to be, as seen through an old 8mm movie camera. Includes authentic RR communications from that era.

Distant views of HO train layout on hot tub
In response to a request, here is a distant view of the train layout on a hot tub. The layout was built about 14" above the hot tub height. Padded the wood supports that rest on the hot tub and the layout is secured by the three walls. As you can see, a lot of scenery still has yet to be done. I'm using my old Atlas turnouts in most places, but will try to blend in the large switch machines in the scenery. The 'temporary' removeable bridge in the foreground will probably be a trestle in the ...
