Flight 5191 Community Memorial in Richmond

Title:
Flight 5191 Community Memorial in Richmond

Description:
When the Delta commuter jet crashed Aug. 27, 2006, while attempting to take off from Lexington Airport, it claimed the lives of 49 people, including six from Madison County Kentucky. Local Boy Scout Brian Huybers hopes to lead an effort to erect a memorial in a Richmond park in time for the tragic accident's second anniversary. When Richmond Mayor Connie Lawson said she would like to see a local memorial erected, he decided to take the lead. The effort will serve as Huybers' Eagle Scout project. Huybers is a junior at Madison Central High School, and the project is an ambitious one for a teenager. He hopes news about the project will aid fundraising efforts.
