St. George is laid back, charming and St. George has small shops and cafes and very interesting churches. Bermuda's big city is the town of Hamilton. Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda, is very sophisticated with upscale shops and a graceful, picturesque harbor. Hamilton has Bermuda's best restaurants and places to stay from small Bermuda B and B's to impressive hotels like the Fairmont Princess. |

They are urging people to monitor the storm's progress closely. (July 11)[Notes:all images from NOAA]Hurricane Bertha is already having an effect on Bermuda as it inches closer to the island.The storm has lost some of its strength from earlier in the week but remains a Category One hurricane with top sustained winds at about 85 miles per hour.Bertha is about 350 miles southeast of Bermuda and is moving toward it at seven miles per hour.The storm is already producing some large swells and high surf there that are expected to continue for the coming days.Forecasters say they may issue a tropical storm watch for the island but add it's still not clear just how close Bertha will come.For now they are urging residents to keep a close eye on its progress. ___ ___, The Associated Press. |
 | Shipwrecked in The Bermuda Triangle 1970,s-8mm Film The Fantome lost some steering capability well before it left Freeport on a Captain Mike's ship Cruise. The near hurricane conditions blew us aground near the Aeluthra Island in the Bermuda Triangle. The captain said to swim for it if the 1927 steel hulled ship breaks apart. She didn't, but a U.S. navy submarine rescue vessel sent a launch and took us to their ship. More trouble; the navy boys wouldn't leave my wife alone & she liked the attention.  | Bermuda Ducking Stool Market night in St. George's also see a recreation of the "Ducking Stool" a 17 century form of punishment for nags and gossips. For the town drunk (A visitor that volutereed) the punishment was less severe. In this case, buying a round of drinks kept him out of the stocks! |

To the south of Antigua are the Caribbean islands of Montserrat and Guadaloupe, and to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts, and St. Martin. It's the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean. |
