Gigondas: Chateau St. Cosme
We meet Louis Barroul, the owner and winemaker of Chateau St. Cosme. It is harvest, and Louis is conducting the "pisage", an old method of pumping down the cap. We take a tour of his cellar, which contains remnants of the oldest known winemaking history in all of southern France.
Rhone Syrah
We travel to the northern Rhone for the story of an ancient syrah variety grown on the ridiculously steep slopes above St. Joseph. Throw in some crazy French winemakers and some crazy vineyards and you have some very crazy wine.
