NWS personnel have rated the Parkersburg-New Hartford-Dunkerton tornado as EF 5 (correlated to wind speeds up to 205 MPH) on the Enhanced Fujita Scale at the locations of maximum damage. 25 May 2008, 1 mile outside Bison, Kansas. Tornado is to our SSW. This tornado was unique because it extended from the rear flank downdraft of the supercell instead of its massive wall cloud, where we were obviously expecting it to come from. Pay attention to the bottom-lefthand corner of the screen. Video taken while on a convective field study with Valparaiso University's meteorology department.
