Title:
1995 June 8 Allison, Texas Tornado

Description:
This is a video clip from the DVD program "Storm Chase 1993-1995 by Robert Prentice." The 1.3 mile (2 km) wide Allison, Texas tornado from June 8, 1995 is one of the largest ever captured on video and produced a deafening roar. It was also surrounded by VORTEX chase crews. Early in its life cycle, the tornado was measured moving north at 60 mph, but It became stationary during the last last 20 minutes of its life a few miles northwest of Allison. This segment was taken from the southwest side of Allison about 1/3rd of a mile (~1/2 km) from the outer edge of the vortex (at our closest point). Hurricane Rita in Houston #2
Here are a few more clips of Hurricane Rita's far left edge impacting the Houston area in September 2005. The winds in this video are gusting to 55-65mph (at times) and it was shot at around 1am in the morning when Rita was making landfall along the TX/LA border. Minor damages resulted in the Houston area following the storm, but we really lucked out when compared to what could have happened had the storm come ahsore 50-75 miles further west.
