dms 518 and 522 take a six car train to Oyster Bay for the Oyster Festival. They then move on to the yard, and come back a short time later for the run back to Mineola. Sounds like 518's horn has a cold or something, hope it gets better soon...

LIRR JAY Interlocking Eastbound Side Window
Long Island Rail Road JAY interlocking from the side window of an westbound LIRR M-7 train as it passes through the terminal interlocking. Note the new double-deck signal shed that is being built to replace the old Model-14 interlocking machine in JAY tower. The re-signaling has been going on for several years now, but the tower should remain active along with position lights and pneumatic switch machines.

Westbound LIRR train in Mineola, June 2007
I started shooting as soon as I saw the headlight appear, and this kinda shows how bright these lights are, especially since when the train finally got here it was traveling full speed! The platform is about a quarter mile long, and the cars on the train are about 85' long.
