Global Pulse: Mixed Signals - US Life and US Healthcare
More: http://linktv.org/globalpulse (September 27, 2007) With new life expectancy statistics coming out, should the US be living it up or living it down? Today, 46% of Americans have no health insurance -- yet we are living longer than ever before. Nonetheless, when ranked against the life expectancy of other countries, the US has plunged from 11th to 42nd -- and experts are blaming the lack of healthcare for the loss. Successful Aging: Images Of Aging
The media can be a powerful force in shaping our society's beliefs, cultural attitudes and values. Unfortunately, the current images of aging reflected in the media routinely foster negative stereotypes and ageism. Part 1 (of 6) Death of a Nation - Russia
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the West has purposefully ignored the devastation which resulted. The West merely shrugged it's shoulders or pulled faces in 2005 when Putin called it "the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century." A once great country is now nearing terminal collapse. By 2050 Russia may have lost 50% of its population. Male life expectancy has plummeted like no time in recorded human history (now 56). In this chaos opportunism has reached new depths. Oligarchs stole billions of dollars of assets which under Soviet times had belonged to all people. These are like new tzars, embraced by church and state. Violence and the rise of the far-right is turning Russian against Russian on the basis of ethnic origin. Drug abuse, alcoholism, suicide, abject depression flow from a people who once worked together for a better and brighter Communist future. In its place is emptiness. "The rise in mortality is unprecedented in a developed country. Its as though the country is at war"
Project Mayhem
It is said the average life expectancy is like seventy or eighty years, I disagree. I think most people are dead by ten. By ten years old you've been taught to lie and suppress your feelings, to worship brutality, to adore authority, and to turn yourself off. To pay attention to the screen, the schoolmaster. To focus on the programming to regurgitate the political propaganda, and to function as a robotic cog in a system of corruption deceit and avarice. Your true animal self is dead. Those who do continue to struggle against the vice like grip of the machine will be identified, sorted, deliberatley weeded out. What's left is a vanilla shake of sweet concentrated carbohydrate that will pursue the growth of the macro-organism above itself on schedule with fervor. To me America is an oppressive police state which enforces an unfair fascist economy through propaganda and outright oppression. That is why I advocate Treason. I advocate willfull destruction, Project Mayhem, the people in the street. The only reason they stopped the Viet Nam war is because they were afraid they were gonna need the troops at home. Think about that. Should our government operate like a worlwide mafia stuffing democracy down people's throats at gunpoint? Or should it be dealing with pressing local problems here in our own country?
