The building was built in the early 1900s and originally had 68 rooms and a room cost 2.25 with your AAA discount according to a vintage post card i found online. Now it is an office building. The elevator was modernized by dover in the 1980s.

Dover (D-C elevator) Hydraulic @ Blackburn Science Building Murray State University Murray, KY
This one was modernized. It used to look identical to the West elevator.. This elevator had the cab and fixtures redone, however the motor and controller sound just like the original so I believe they were untouched. I LOVE the sound of this motor! I am typically against modernizations, but DC elevator did a good job on this one. www.youtube.com is what it looked like before modernization. both elevators were identical.
