Galapagos People Teaser 3
Description:
Galapagos People The Galapagos Islands rise out of the sea 600 miles off the coast of the Ecuador. Made famous by Charles Darwin in his 'Origin of Species' , the islands have become globally renowned for the richness and diversity of their wildlife. In fact, for most people the Galapagos Islands are synonymous with Iguana's, Tortoises, Penguins and a plethora of natural history documentaries. For many, they are a nature reserve virtually uninhabited by man! In fact, the Galapagos Islands are home to a community of more the 60,00 people, some of whom were born there and some who have visited and decided to stay! 'Galapagos People' shifts the focus away from the iguanas and seeks to explore the daily routines of some of the island's human 'wildlife'. We encounter a cast of colourful characters living in Puerta Ayora, capital of the island of Santa Cruz. It's an eclectic group of individuals, each revealing a unique perspective on Galapagos life. The artist Sarah Darling and her friends give us access to their creative and sometimes eccentric lives and a tangle of stories unfolds encompassing art, politics, international travel, scientific research, romance and cooking! A combination of interview footage and Cinema Verite camera work paints engaging portraits of the 'Galapagos People' in their home environment, surrounded by the raw beauty of nature.
