Two friends and I climbed to the top of Mount Katahdin on July 26th, 2008. We left the roaring brook parking lot at 0630, went to Chimney pond (arrived around 0830 and from there took the Dudley trail to the top of Pamola Peak arriving at around 1045, from there we then took Knifes Edge, to Baxter Peak arriving around 1215. Von Millinocket aus fuhren wir auf einer Privatstrasse etwa 18 Meilen zu dem nördlich der Stadt und sehr abseits liegenden Baxter State Park. Natur pur erlebt man in der Wildnis dieses Parks. Nur bis zum Parkeingang fährt man auf einer asphaltierten Strasse, dann kommt man nur noch mit Allrad-Fahrzeugen weiter. Es gibt keine Tankstellen, Supermärkte usw.
