 | Don't Let Me Down (vocal flub restored) This video is an attempt to present the footage as it was actually performed. Please forgive the shoddy editing job. I didn't have very good editing tools (or skill for that matter) and the source footage I used was far from pristine. A little history... The original footage of this song appears in the "Let It Be" movie. Unfortunately, some of the performance is interrupted by footage of crowd reaction on the street below. During this performance, John Lennon flubs the lyrics at the beginning of the 3rd verse. I always liked that moment in the performance as I thought he had intentionally changed the lyrics by singing them in German (something the Beatles would do early in their career). I later found out he simply forgot the lyrics at that moment and blurted out gobbledygook instead. In 2003, as the tracks for the upcoming release of "Let It Be...Naked" were being remastered, they decided to include "Don't Let Me Down". This song, like "I've Got A Feeling", was performed twice during the rooftop gig. Rather than release the version of the song as seen in the "Let It Be" movie (with the charming vocal flub) they spliced in the section from the other performance where he did not make the mistake (although he did forgot the words at the beginning of the first verse for that performance). In 2003, Fast Focus released a video with better footage of the performance. They left out all the garbage footage from the street below and replaced it with more performance footage of the Beatles (thankfully!). Instead of staying true to the performance as it was actually filmed, however, they opted to match the version of the song as it appears on "Naked". Like the remastered audio track, they replaced the flubbed vocal footage with footage from the other performance where he did not flub the lyrics during the 3rd verse. |

He came well prepared, but unfortunately his presentation was not up to contemporary professional standards. His voice lacks the range of tonal color necessary to make it consistently interesting.
