My first tornado. Here's some video of the Howardville, IA June 10th, 2008 tornado. It was detected by radar near Colwell. It was around 10 miles from my house, where I shot this in Charles City. I had to do a lot of trimming of this vid, as the original is 15 minutes long. Video shot during the slight break we had where we had only thunderstorm warnings, before the tornado warning was back. Second half of video shot the following morning, today at 10:00am showing damage from floods and flash floods from last night. We spent the majority of the warning in the basement with our pets. |

Doppler indicated rotation above Bettendorf, IA and I had the camera pointed in that direction as the storm moved in. The large cloud that appears to be touching down is not a tornado, it is known as an "Inflow Tail". I stopped filming as an RFD came in. |
