Hopkins vs. Powell, an epic war of attrition

Title:
Hopkins vs. Powell, an epic war of attrition

Description:
A 27 year old Bernard Hopkins makes a statement only two fights away from Jones. He was also a month away from 28. I find it interesting that in the graphic they have him at 25. Perhaps a business decision, as Bernard started late and would one day be a "geriatric wonder"? Wayne 'Trouble Man' was moving up from junior middleweight "in which he holds three belts," and with the juggernaut jab he employs nearly from the start you can see why. Note Hopkins's flamboyant then promoter, Butch Lewis.

Hopkins vs. Mitchell
The age and record of Danny Mitchell does not indicate that this was Bernard's most extraordinarily impressive victory, but in this, his 13th fight as a professional, he showcases a different style than that seen in his other early fights. Here, he boxes from a distance, albeit aggressively, and makes his overwhelmed opponent miss and feast on a one-round diet of jabs, left hooks and the occasional pinpoint right hand.

Hopkins vs. Stokes
The story of this fight is a vicious display of body punching and hooks with both hands put on James Stokes whose showboating for the camera opens the clip. (Appropriately the clip ends with showboating from Hopkins.) The younger Hopkins had a stylistic similarity to Duran on the inside which only elevates his later ability to dance, jab, and potshot from distance. Again Hopkins is not 25 as the graphic says; in this fight he is 27.

Hidden Microphone in Oscar De La Hoya's Trunks
A remote mic was hidden in Oscar Del La Hoya's trunks for what was to be a HBO special documentary on his fight against Bernard Hopkins. After the poor performance, Del La Hoya nixed the documentary. But now, finally leaked to the public, some audio of that fight from Oscar's point of view. ***additional: to see where I got the sound sample of Oscar crying, go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90m2Xw_Haj0 ****** Don't waste your time commenting that this is "Fake as heck"...of course it is, dum-dums...I'm just going to remove those comments.
