Title:
The Trebevic Choir - Oj Talasi

Description:
"Oj Talasi" performed by The Trebevic Choir on the 1997 world lullaby compilation album "The Planet Sleeps" Lyrics translation, from the CD booklet: (If anybody has or can transcribe the lyrics in the original language[s], I would be pleased to have them) "Oh, the waves" Oh dear waves so flow that my boat can further go Oh, dear waves so flow that my boat can further go and you, wind, do not blow 'cause on a long journey today I go ay ay ay on a long journey today I go on a long journey today I go and you, sea, remain calm until safely home I come ay ay ay until safely home I come until safely home I come The CD booklet tells about how The Trebevic Choir performed this piece in the winter of 1994 at the Sarajevo Cathedral in Sarajevo, now the capital of the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The area was being ravaged by violent warfare at the time, the region struggling for independence, as this choir sung. French producer Jean-Yves Labatte, the one who recorded this piece at that dangerous time, comments that many of the choir members have since "disappeared", presumably lost in the war.
