Preparations for the inauguration of Barack Obama as the next president have been going on for weeks in Washington. The viewing stands at the Capitol have been constructed, the parade route is being readied, and people in the city are in a mood of anticipation. Here's a look at those preparations and what people are talking about now that Inauguration Day, January 20th, is near.
National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. (HD)
The National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC is one of the most spectacular events of the year. Though the trees are only in bloom for a very short time, the festival draws in millions of tourists from all over the country to see the Tidal Basin surrounded in pink and white flowers. The 3000 cherry blossom trees were given to our Capital by Yukio Ozaki from Japan in the early 1990's. In return, the US gave flowering dogwood trees a couple years later.
