Respected scientist Michio Kaku speaks to a number of academics and researchers and writers including: (links included for fact checking) Prof Michio Kaku -- Prof Theoretical physics at City College of New York, http://www.mkaku.org Prof. Leonard Guarente MIT Department Biology http://tinyurl.com/24dl5c Joel Garreau--Author Radical Evolution http://tinyurl.com/2gf6d5 Dr. William Haseltine--Biotech Entrepreneur http://tinyurl.com/27gp7w quotes Michio Kaku -- We can now conceive of the fact that we can live into our 90's and our hundreds. Medicine is growing exponentially fast and we are now beginning to unlock perhaps the first time the molecular secret of aging process itself. No one can deny the enormous power and potential of the bio-molecular revolution the power make us healthier, better, stronger the power to enrich our lives. The power to prolong our lives by years or even decades or perhaps even to make us immortal. Prof. Guarente --we think that ... in my lab and now in other labs have identified a set of related genes called Sirtuins that are responsible for delivering the benefits of calorie restriction. My personal feeling is that if you affect the underlying aging process you will favourably impact all the major diseases of ageing... keep you healthier longer and live longer. Joel Garreau--Author Radical Evolution Hard-nosed scientists have a big bet right now that the first person to robustly live to the age of 150 is already alive today ..this person could be in their 50's or 60's today. Perhaps all you have to do is to live in a healthy fashion for another 20 years and you could end up living for a very long time. All that has to happen ...is that the technology has to be advancing faster than you are ageing and you could be something like immortal, it's a credible scenario it could happen. Dr. Haseltine --The nature of life is not mortality its immortality. DNA is an immortal molecule. That molecule was first known to be on earth perhaps 3.5 billion years ago. That self same molecule through duplication and reduplication and variation is around today. That molecule has been doing that for 3 and a half billion years which is as close to immortality as you will get on planet earth. Now its true that we run-out and rundown but we've talked about projecting way out into the future the ability to alter that, first to modify it so that we extend our lives 2 or 3 fold, then perhaps if we understand the brain well enough, to extend both our bodies and brains indefinitely and I don't think that will be an unnatural process.
