 | AROUND ZURICH: Schwerzenbach In the late summer and autumn of the year 2005 each Sunday I made a trip to a different municipality of the so called Greater Zurich area. With a complete disregard of weather conditions I descended on those places on my bike, armed with the video camera. While I am fully aware that I probably will never ever become the next Dziga Vertov, I am glad to say that it was fun editing the results in an effort to highlight the essence of the periphery of my home town. Schwerzenbach lies to the north of Zurich, in the valley of the river Glatt. Edited to the tunes of Ten Little Times by David Earle Johnson with Jan Hammer. |
 | CHARACTER ACTORS: Heinrich Gretler Bevor Heinrich Gretler (1897-1977) der wohl beliebteste Darsteller von Schweizerischen Dialektfilmen wurde, mühte er sich auf den Bühnen Berlins ab, mit mässigem Erfolg. Ab und zu gab es eine kleine Filmrolle, zwei davon sind hier zu sehen. In der Verfilmung von Alfred Döblins Roman Berlin Alexanderplatz (1931), Regie Piel Jutzi, spielt er einen Clochard, der dem Hauptdarsteller Franz Biberkopf (Heinrich George) den Koffer stiehlt. Im Testament des Dr. Mabuse (1932), Regie Fritz Lang, ist er als Assistent des Polizeilaboranten und -fotografen zu sehen, der sich mit einem Jojo die Zeit vertreibt. Heiri muss auch in Fritz Langs Film "M" eine Rolle gehabt haben. Ich habe ihn aber dort nicht erkannt - seine schöne, sonore Stimme allerdings schon. |

Bassersdorf is ... well, just Bassersdorf. There is nothing special to tell about the place to the north of the city. At its center there's a roundabout and the airport is nearby.
