Title:
What do you plan to do with your life now that you've seen North Dakota?
Description:
MARCH 29, 2009: Viewers of my channel know that I am a regular Amtrak traveler. My brother, Dangerous Dan, on the hand, has rarely left the Toronto area since he was born 30 years ago. I wanted him to see our surviving grandmother before it was too late. And since he was a laid-off employee of the United States government (The Department of General Motors), I decided he was out of excuses. I booked us a trip on Amtrak which would take us from Toronto to Buffalo, then Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, back to Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago again, and back to Toronto. To economize (I was paying for both of us) I booked us in coach. This video was taken just as we crossed into Montana from North Dakota. All that he had seen of the United States (up until that time) was that it was flat. And it had more snow even than Ontario. We had been on the trains for two nights up until this time and had left a blizzard behind in North Dakota. When he woke up that morning, he looked out the window, saw nothing but white, sighed and went back to sleep. He probably wondered what he had gotten himself into. "Yes, I want to see California. But must the price really be this high?" If you're interested, by the time we got to Washington State the next morning, he couldn't keep his eyes away from the window. It even got better for him once we got to California. Canadian boys aren't used to 80-degree weather in April.
