Lifelong Learners on Semester at Sea-Part One
Part one of two. Lifelong Learners are non-student adults who sail as part of every Semester at Sea voyage. Retirees, professionals on leave, or simply adventurous travelers, they are respected for their expertise and insights. Lifelong learners audit undergraduate courses, attend field excursions, serve as mentors to undergraduates, and add a valuable generational element to class discussions.

Spring 2009 Semester at Sea - Dalit Village Service Project
On each voyage stopping in Chennai, India, students have the chance to participate in a service project in a Dalit village. Through a partnership with the Bridge Education Trust, Semester at Sea students have done service projects in 40 Dalit villages over the last 20 years.

Semester at Sea overview - part 3
Semester at Sea is a multi-country study abroad program that educates individuals for leadership, service, and success in shaping our interdependent world. During a fall or spring semester, students experience 10-12 countries while circumnavigating the globe, earning 12-15 credits from the University of Virginia (U.Va.). Summer semesters are more regionally focused, usually featuring 8 countries. Students earn 9-12 credits from U.Va. on summer voyages.
