Description:
I am indebted to the Archivist of the Ballet Ramert for her identification of this production of The Sleeping Princess, with sets designed by Nadia Benois. Featured here is three glimpses of the Prologue with June Brae as the Lilac Fairy and her 4 fairy attendants, a glimpse of Carabosse's mime with King Florestan 14th and his Queen. It then moves to Act 1 with Margot Fonteyn as Aurora and the four princes -- suitors for her hand. Transmission: 25th & 29th Mar 1939 This film footage is from the John Bliss Archive Collection held and administered by the Alexandra Palace Television Society. http://www.apts.org.uk ~ APTS ~ Preserving the televisual past for the digital future
