As recently as 1968 Padre Pio died in a Franciscan Monastery in Southern Italy. For 50 years he bore the wounds of Christ's Passion. Thousands visited him every year when he was alive to be cured of their bodily and spiritual ills. Pope John Paul II visited the historic monastery where Padre Pio lived and died. This was the third time he had come to the remote village in southern Italy, San Giovanni Rotondo. On his first visit many years ago, His Holiness Pope John Paul II was just a simple priest and it was then that Padre Pio told him he would, one day, become Pope and that he would be covered in his own blood. Libor Brom Scientists claim that man is nothing but an accidental accumulation of odd material put together during a very brief fragment of time, doomed ultimately to disintegrate. The human body, they say, is composed of one octillion atoms, and three trillion of such atoms would form the period at the end of this sentence. They add that an atom is not actual material. If enlarged to one hundred meters in diameter, its contents would amount to waves moving with the speed of light, or faster, and the socalled material in such an extended atom would be no more than a pinhead. Scientists do not tell us what man is. Jesus Christ does. And He tells us how to live. That our thoughts and deeds must follow the example He gave during His short Journey on earth. That as children of God we have been given eternal life through His death and resurrection. Christ could have saved the octillion atoms found in His human form. He could have made a compromise with Satan. He could have retracted His teachings and denied His heritage before Pilate. He could have surrendered to the momentary doubts on the Cross and shown Himself to be another ordinary bewildered mortal. But Jesus chose to do otherwise.  | Padre Pio - part 4 (last mass - death ...-1968) We have to consider Padre Pio just like an example, a lesson for our life, as well as every other saint, and not like a circus freak. I'm talking about the show of his body that will take place in these days in San Giovanni Rotondo, and the respective crowd making photos etc. It's just like 3 years ago at the death of Johannes Paulus II, and I think it's a shame. I'm sure Padre Pio didn't want all that, we can notice it also in his videos where he seems to shun and reproach such stupid people who kiss him without understand his words (When the finger points out the moon, the fool look at the finger). |

 | Ultima Misa de San Pio de Pietrelcina - iglesia católica Enardecido por el amor a Dios y al prójimo, Padre Pío vivió en plenitud la vocación de colaborar en la redención del hombre mediante la dirección espiritual de los fieles, la confesión y la celebración de la Eucaristía. El momento cumbre de su actividad apostólica era aquél en el que celebraba la Santa Misa.
