Hallucinogen - live remix - Pink Floyd - On the Run + Deranger
Description:
Hallucinogen, the stage name of Simon Posford, playing live and mixing between the Pink Floyd psychedelic 'on the run' and his own track 'Deranger'. This was played live by Simon Posford (Hallucinogen) at the DNA lounge in San Francisco, 07.12.2001 . Also Shpongle played on that show, also from Twisted Records. Hallucinogen is the stage name of Simon Posford (born 1971), an electronic musician specializing in Goa trance music from England. His early work is as an engineer on the T.I.P.(Raja Ram) and Dragonfly (Youth) labels. His first album, Twisted, was one of the most widely influential electronic music recordings of its time and helped to define the psychedelic trance genre. The follow-up album, The Lone Deranger, only cemented his influence. From then on, Posford ventured into numerous collaborations with other artists. His most notable projects involve artists such as Raja Ram (Shpongle), Martin Glover (Celtic Cross) and Prometheus a.k.a. Benji Vaughan (Younger Brother). The vocalists he uses most often in his music are Michele Adamson and Abigail Gorton. Though pooling his talent from a host of worldly influences, many of his fans will attest that he has the "Posford Touch", a certain unmistakable quality to the sound of his music, that is revered by psychedelic and electronic enthusiasts from around the world. He is renowned for his meticulous production skills and the multilayered depth his music has. The track 'Deranger' is from 'The Lone Deranger', a goa trance album released by Hallucinogen in 1997 on Twisted Records. The name of the album is wordplay on The Lone Ranger, a radio and television show from the 1930s. ------------ Pink Floyd are an English rock band that initially earned recognition for their psychedelic or space rock music, and, as they evolved, for their progressive rock music. They are known for philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative cover art, and elaborate live shows. One of rock music's most successful acts, the group have sold over 200 million albums worldwide, including 74.5 million albums in the United States alone. Pink Floyd had moderate mainstream success and were one of the most popular bands in the London underground music scene in the late 1960s as a psychedelic band led by Syd Barrett; however, Barrett's erratic behaviour eventually forced his colleagues to replace him with guitarist and singer David Gilmour. After Barrett's departure, singer and bass player Roger Waters gradually became the dominant and driving force in the mid-1970s, until his eventual departure from the group in 1985. The band recorded several albums, achieving worldwide success with The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Wall (1979). The Dark Side of the Moon (1993) is a concept album by the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd, engineered by Alan Parsons. The band's most successful release, The Dark Side of the Moon spent 741 consecutive weeks (14 years) on the USA-based Billboard 200 album chart, the longest duration of any album in history. It is the fourth highest selling album globally of all time, selling more than forty million units. In addition to its commercial success, The Dark Side of the Moon is often considered to be the group's defining work, and is still frequently ranked by music critics as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time. ----- "On the Run" is the third track from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon. It is an instrumental that deals with the pressures of travel (which Rick Wright said would often bring fear of death), and is a VCS3 synthesizer-led piece. When the band performed this song in concert, at the end of it, a model airplane would fly from one end of the arena to the other, appearing to crash in a brilliant explosion. The same effect was used in the A Momentary Lapse of Reason tours with a flying bed, and was an inspiration for the fictional band Disaster Area from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, whose stage act involves a spaceship crashing into the sun. Lyrics: Roger "The Hat" Manifold, Pink Floyd road manager says: "Live for today, gone tomorrow. That's me", then laughs. Genre - Progressive rock, electronic music, musique concr?te, song cycle. Recorded - Abbey Road June 1972-January 1973 Writers - David Gilmour Roger Waters d.n.a lounge

![]() | LSD by Hallucinogen (Electric Guitar Arrangement) I recently got turned onto electronic music through a friend's Last.fm radio station. This entire album (Twisted) is an amazing listening experience and this track opens it up perfectly. Simon Posford is just incredible, one of the most consistent musicians/producers - check out his work in Shpongle and Younger Brother as further examples!!! My goal for this arrangement was to maintain the song structure while adding a few embellishments of my own, I don't really know how well it worked out ... |

Do watch it and let your pulse rate go high! |
