Fatal Motorcycle Accident Crash - Houston, TX

On June 29th, 2008, at approximately 01:40 am, Jose Deluna was operating a 1999 Kawasaki ZX7R westbound in the 18800 block of FM 529 in the inside lane. A 2002 Ford Mustang was being operated by Jesus Catacora westbound in the 18800 block of FM 529 in the outside lane of travel. Jose Deluna was observed with the front tire of the Kawasaki off of the roadway surface riding a wheelie as he traveled westbound on FM 529. Jose Deluna failed to maintain a single lane of travel entering the outside lane of travel. Once in the outside lane of travel, Jesus Catacora struck the rear of the Kawasaki causing Jose Deluna to be ejected from the motorcycle. Jose Deluna was not wearing a helmet and was transported to St. Katherine's Hospital were he was pronounced deceased due to his injuries sustained from the collision. Jesus Catacora was found to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was arrested for Felony 3rd Driving While Intoxicated. This case remains under investigaton by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Section. Rest In Peace Jose Deluna
