Title:
Walsall Trolleybuses a film by Barry Coward

Description:
Walsall Corporation has a interesting fleet of trolleybuses. Many were second hand from systems that had closed. In this film there are examples from Ipswich and Grimsby and Cleethorpes. However the mainstay of the operations were by Walsall designed 8ft wide Sunbeam trolleybuses with double reduction rear axles that gave a distinctive whine when riding on the lower deck. Walsall's General Manager Ronald Edgley-Cox had great faith in the future of the trolleybus, but the Labour Transport Minister, Richard Marsh reorganised transport in the West Midlands and the operation passed to the newly formed West Midlands PTE who promptly set about withdrawing the system. Trolleybuses ceased on 3rd October 1970.
