Battle of Bands
Two bands of Civil War vintage instruments play in competition across the Canon River then join forces for "Home Sweet Home." First Brigade Band from Wisconsin and 26th North Carolina Regimental Band based in Baltimore both played during the Vintage Band Festival held in Northfield, Minnesota during July 2006. Changing of the Guard 1861-2009 1st Brigade Band
This is a recreation of an American Civil War band from Wisconsin playing period music, period instruments, and using period arrangements. It was first assigned to the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and later reconstituted as the 1st Brigade Band of Shermans Army of the Tennessee, marching with that Army to the sea. The original band had 26 members, rather large for a regimental band of that era, and we see about that number here. Notice the over the shoulder instruments facing rearward ...
