Crivitz Train Shuffle 4/20/2008 Part 1

Title:
Crivitz Train Shuffle 4/20/2008 Part 1

Description:
This video begins as the southbound power (ELS 501 and 402) head to the north side of town to retrieve their train. At the same time, ELS 1221 and 600 (having spun around the wye while I was at lunch so 1221 is now positioned to lead the train from here to Channing, MI) pull out on the south leg of the Marinette Branch wye, then shove back into the yard. Then they pull ahead on the branch again to clear the track for the southbound. Both trains were momentarily in motion at the same time. The horn you hear at 0:15 just as ELS 402 and 501 clear the picture is the horn of ELS 1221, and the horn you hear at 0:18 as ELS 1221 enters the picture is ELS 402 at the Henriette Avenue crossing on the north end of the yard (although the bell you hear is ELS 1221). Once the northbound is clear, the southbound departs Crivitz, seen at the Henriette Avenue crossing.

Crivitz Train Shuffle 4/20/2008 Part 2
After the southbound left, ELS 1221 and 600 shoved their northbound train off the south leg of the Marinette Branch wye and back into the yard. I thought they were going to set the switch for the line to Channing and depart, but instead they resumed switching the yard, pulling back out onto the Marinette Branch. The head end of the train blocked the branch line's crossing of US Highway 141, the main north-south road in Crivitz, for almost 15 minutes straight while they switched cars in the ...
Escanaba & Lake Superior 402 Coming Into GB 4/6/2008
Here is the ELS coming into Green Bay on trackage rights over the CN Marinette Subdivision. First we see the train crossing the Riverview Drive grade crossing and the Duck Creek Bridge, then entering North Green Bay Yard at the N. Military Avenue grade crossing. ELS 402, an ex-Conrail GP38, leads ELS-painted sister 400 and a bit healthier amount of train than there was on Friday.
Chasing ELS 600 4/20/2008 Part 3 - Arrival at Crivitz
The ELS 600 and 1221 pull into the Crivitz Yard, "kick" a boxcar down a spur, and are joined by the southbound power, SD40-2 ELS 501 and ex-CR GP38 402. Like 600, 501 was originally a Milwaukee Road unit and is now operating on old MILW tracks for the E&LS, in the paint scheme of an intermediate owner.
Chasing ELS F-Unit 600 4/20/2008 Part 1 - Leaving Green Bay
The Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad purchased this ex-Milwaukee Road EMD F7 in 2005 from the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad, where it had operated in occasional excursion service as WSOR 71A. Prior to that, it was Wisconsin and Calumet Railroad 96A. I rode excursions pulled by it in both incarnations. Here we see the venerable F-unit in regular freight service, leading ex-RMSX SD9 ELS 1221 out of Green Bay in a lashup straight from the 1950s. First the train crosses the Duck Creek ...
Chasing ELS 600 4/20/2008 Part 2 - Stiles Junction, Lena & Coleman
Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad EMD F7A No. 600 continues toward Crivitz with SD9 1221 and 80 cars. The first shot is the abandoned depot at Stiles Jct., then the US Highway 141 crossing north of Lena, and finally the County Highway M crossing near Coleman, Wisconsin.

ELS Meets CN in Green Bay 4/13/2008
The conclusion of "Chasing ELS 400 Stiles Junction to Howard 4/13/2008". ELS 400 and 402 lead their train into cn's North Green Bay Yard, holding up CN Train L537, which is waiting to head north on the Marinette Sub behind CN SD40-2W 5335 and Wisconsin Central GP40 3017. The CN train departs as soon as ELS clears the yard switch. The N. Military Avenue grade crossing has gone from bad to worse. Not only is the same light still burnt out as last Sunday, but the crossing bell which sounded ...
Great echoing horns on the E&LS in the north woods.
E&LS 501-500 are north bound in the north woods of Michigans UP near Herman. The fall color is peaked, and the horns echoing in the woods are fantastic. Jackmp294
PNWR Albany Yard
I made a trip down to Albany, Oregon a decides to look around pnwr's Albany Yard on November 3rd, 2007. I saw a bunch of power there, such as PNWR 1501 (EMD SD9), PNWR 1805 (EMD GP9), PNWR 1801 (EMD GP9), LLW 4433 (EMD SD9), and more!
