Ten lucky high school Students from California were selected via their state representatives and an essay on the "importance of the US Space Program" to travel to the Kennedy Space Center with then First Lady of CA Sharon Davis, wife of Governor Gray Davis. NASA and Boeing staff gave the VIPs a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities involved in the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs. This was sponsored by Boeing and Delta Airlines. Bill Pence, CA State Teacher of the Year and Special Assistants Barabara Ann Guido and Trish Fontana also came along. Winners Included: Federico Baradello Stephen Beauchesne John Cromie Miya Dunets Sarah Griffith Jaclyn Hagon Mike Hoaglin Andy Lin
